The priorities set for this year are: 1) co-ordination of the affiliated unions’ European work, 2) coordination of the unions’ activities in UNI and UNI Finance and 3) supporting union work in Nordic finance Groups. The NFU’s statements to the European Commission during the year are available under the heading Policies.
On 7-8 June, the NFU held its traditional Sector Conference in Malmö. A report from this conference is available in English, see Documents and in Swedish, see under Reports and Material.
On 21-23 October, the NFU will arrange a conference outside Stockholm on European Workers’ Councils. The participants will come from various Group branches and from the affiliated unions.
The NFU will continue to work with issues concerning gender equality, youth and managers.
The NFU's Union Council will hold its annual council meeting on 31 October in Reykjavik. The Union Council will discuss operations and finances for 2008 and other issues.
The NFU's Executive Committee has held four meetings during the year and will meet next on 19 December.
The so-called Baltic Sea Project has continued during the year. The greatest success was the founding of a finance sector union in Lithuania. For further information see “NFU Report May 2007” under Documents.
